Description
The Great Fire of Rome began on the 18th of July 64 C.E., during the reign of Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus. It started near the Circus Maximus, to the left of this aerial shot. The fire destroyed approximately 70% of the city, including the Vesta and many of the Forum buildings.
